Nashville CARES has tapped Meghan Linsey to be Grand Marshal for its 25th annual AIDS Walk.
Linsey placed in the runner up position in season eight of the popular TV singing competition, The Voice. Country music fans might also recognize her as one half of the now-defunct duo Steel Magnolia. Along with her then-boyfriend Joshua Scott Jones, Linsey won season two of the TV singing competition show, Can You Duet, and then hit the Top 5 with the single "Keep On Lovin' You."
“I am so excited and honored to be named Grand Marshal of this year’s Nashville AIDS Walk,” said Linsey. “I have close friends living with HIV and am grateful for the support that Nashville CARES provides to those individuals. The education and awareness that Nashville CARES provides is essential for prevention and I am so proud to be a part of it.”
The Nashville AIDS Walk and 5K Run is Tennessee’s oldest continuously running HIV/AIDS fundraiser and one of the city’s highest profile events. This year’s goal is to raise $240,000 to help end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee. The event takes place on Saturday, October 1 at Public Square Park.
The event, presented by NPS Pharmacy, is a family-oriented team walk and timed 5K run that gathers participants from all parts of the community. Businesses, civic clubs, churches, friends and families walk or run while celebrating the vital role that Nashville CARES plays in serving those living with HIV and working to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee.
Registration starts at 9:00 am.
The Community and Business Fair starts at 10:00 am.
The Walk & Run start at 11:00 am.
