ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves will host their fourth annual Out in the Stands event on Wednesday, September 17, as the Braves take on their National League East rivals the Washington Nationals. Out in the Stands tickets include a game ticket, exclusive pregame patio meet and greet with former Major League outfielder Billy Bean, a free drink ticket in the patio and a charitable donation to Lost N Found Youth.
Bean, who was recently named MLB’s first “Ambassador of Inclusion”, played at the Major League level from 1987 to 1995 with the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. Bean came out publicly in 1999 and is a strong advocate for equality and anti-bullying awareness. In his new role with MLB, Bean will provide guidance and training related to efforts to support those in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community throughout Major League Baseball. He will work with Major and Minor League Clubs to encourage equal opportunity in accordance with the joint MLB-MLBPA Workplace code of Conduct. He also will develop educational training initiatives against sexism, homophobia and prejudice and will present at annual industry events, including the Winter Meetings and the MLB-MLBPA Rookie Career Development Program.
