Annual Vintner's wine-tasting event announced

"A Taste of White with a Splash of Red" is the theme of this year's Vintner's wine tasting fundraiser, benefiting the Comprehensive Care Center (CCC). The annual event will be held at the Vanderbilt Student Life Center on Friday, August 10, from 6 to 10 p.m.

In addition to wine tasting, the evening will include a live and silent auction, delicious food, the Neil Diehl and Anne Maier awards and music by D.J. Ron. Complimentary valet parking will be available.

This years auction will include an original art piece entitled “A Tapestry of Life,” composed of strips of canvas decorated by patients, friends and families of those affected by HIV/AIDS.

Several ticket options are available and include a $100 Bronze Level, $200 Silver level, $400 Gold Level and a $1,000 Diamond Level. General admission tickets are available for $65.

The CCC is the largest provider of HIV/AIDS care in the state and is one of the largest in the nation. It was used as the model for the development of the State of Tennessee’s AIDS Centers of Excellence Program (an integrated network of HIV primary care centers statewide). More than 5,000 patients have been seen at the CCC since it opened in February of 1994, and their are currently about 2,100 active clients.

"I am committed to what the Center does for its patients and if I can do anything to help in this cause I will do it,” said Gillie Crowder, Vintner's event coordinator. “I have lost a number of friends to this disease, and this is my way of doing something in the fight against HIV and AIDS in the memory of those who have died."
