A car accident, a dinner party, and a paranormal intrusion

With traffic backed up Anton Swann, an unemployed lawyer, decides to follow a Porsche off an unknown exit ramp that forever changes the course of his life.  So begins Brian Lancaster's novel Uninvited Guest from Dreamspinner Press.

After a car accident leaves him weak and a rainstorm leaves him drenched, Anton decides to locate a cottage he drove by while following the Porsche.  It is here, Anton meets Dr. Stephen Miller who is as mysterious as he is attractive.  Dr. Miller’s annual get together with friends leaves Anton feeling free and refreshed although slightly upset that he seems to offend Dr. Miller with every word said and every action performed.

Dr. Miller’s friends warn Anton that there is a presence in the cottage that is only explained as being the ghost of Sebastian, the dead lover of Dr. Miller.  As Anton prepares to leave the cottage to take a train back home, he sees this ghost smoking a cigarette in the window, but does not mention this fact to his host.  As it comes to light later, Anton must decide if Dr. Miller is mourning the loss of his lover or dealing with the aftermath of committing a murder.  For now, he takes a detour as Dr. Miller must deal with his father being in the hospital for a stroke.

After departing the cottage with no detours, Anton must deal with his ex, Christian who has taken it upon himself to let Anton know they belong together.  Anton deals with mixed emotions as his love for Christian is forever changed as a result of his stay at the cottage with Dr. Miller.  Should Anton get back together with Christian, should he stay on his own, or should he test the waters and find someone new to love?

In between bouts of love and truth seeking, Anton is actively searching for a job and he is not willing to settle for less than the perfect opportunity.  Little does Anton realize that his new friends will allow him to find the perfect opportunity with tasty icing on the cake.

In what will be his darkest hour, Dr. Miller loses his father, his lover, and his pride.  In his darkest hour, Anton finds a reason to love again and will stop at nothing to make sure his love is known, even if it means flying across the world to say I love you.  The only question that remains is whether or not Anton’s love interest will feel the same.

Uninvited Guest by Brian Lancaster is a well written and brilliant novel.  The premise is one we could have happen to us at any moment.
