5 gay things to do in Nashville this week

​We're not getting a reprieve from the winter weather anytime soon so we might as well just bundle up and carry on. And by carry on, of course we mean check out Out & About Nashville's 5 Gay Things to Do in Nashville this week. 

5) Nashville CARES Avant Garde- Saturday February 8

If you're trying to hide from the cold, there is no better way than grabbing a mask and donning it at Nashville CARES Avant Garde Masquerade. The event will be held this Saturday, February 8 at War Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $100 and there are still a limited number of tickets left for the event.

4) Healing of the Hearts: HeyDay Revival- Sunday February 9 

Birthday boy Samuel Damewood graced the covers of Out & About Nashville in September 2012 with his band Fuzz Face. Now catch Samuel and another side project, HeyDay Revival, make their Nashville debut in an intimate acoustic setting. 

The event takes places Sunday, February 9 at Canvas Lounge beginning at 6 p.m. (doors). The event is free. For more details or to RSVp, check out the event's Facebook invite.

3) ACLU Attorney James Esseks speaks at Vanderbilt University- Tuesday February 11

A top ACLU attorney who played a pivotal role in the Supreme Court’s recent decision striking down portions of the federal Defense of Marriage Act will speak at Vanderbilt Law School. The discussion will happen at 12 noon on February 11. For more details, click here.

2) Healthcare and Wealth Building Seminars- Wednesday February 12

Join Raidan Partners in partnership with Humana for their free workshop series for the LGBT community. The FREE series occurs the second Wednesday of each month, from 7 - 8 p.m. and is a great way to learn about financial and health care issues affecting the LGBT community.

This month's discussion is  "Basics of Investing: Building Wealth Wisely." 

1) Transgender Drop-in- Thursday February 13

Every second Thursday of each month, OutCentral hosts Transgender Drop-in. Come chat with Vickie Davis, one of the leaders of the Tennessee Vals, a transgender support group here in Nashville.

Vickie will facilitate an informal discussion for anyone that wants to talk about any and all things transgender. So anyone that wants to participate just show up, and let's chat, whether you are trans or not.
