OutCentral announces 2014 membership drive

At this year’s Autumn Honors, the OutCentral Board—present, past and soon-to be past—gathered to celebrate and honor the “cultural achievements of GLBTQIF Nashvillians and their allies.” The celebration marked OutCentral’s fifth anniversary as Nashville’s cultural and diversity center.

The event, which drew nearly 50 community leaders from Nashville Pride, Brothers and Sisters United (BASU), Nashville CARES, Nashville Black Pride, GLSEN Middle Tennessee and Vanderbilt Office of LGBTQI Life, was presented by Elan Salon..

Honorees included: Mark Hubbard, Dwayne Jenkins, Mark Lopez, MAC, Van Pond, Jr., Dr. Marisa Richmond and Brian and Laura Rossbert.

Those attending were treated to scenes from Cake or Death, the latest theatre production from the geniuses who brought Nashville Southern Baptist Sissies, Kirk-Burgess Productions. A portion of the production’s proceeds will benefit OutCentral. Cake or Death runs through November 9 at the Darkhorse Theatre.

During the event, OutCentral announced its new donation partnership with Network for Good and tiered membership levels.

“We’re jumpstarting our semi-dormant membership campaign,” said OutCentral Board Chair Joe Morris. “We have our eye towards growing our membership base to serve two purposes: to bring in a steady source of income every month and to help us get the word out about programming and bring in new ideas for programming.”

So if you’ve ever wondered how you could get involved, there is a membership level for all budgets. Levels include:

Student / Tight Budget

For $3.33 per month, or $10 quarterly, you’ll receive an OutCentral bracelet.

For $5 a month, or $15 quarterly, you’ll receive your very own OutCentral t-shirt (once designed and printed).

WhistlePig + Alfa Romeo F1

SHOREHAM, VT (September 13, 2023) — WhistlePig Whiskey, the leaders in independent craft whiskey, and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake are waving the checkered flag on a legend-worthy release that’s taking whiskey to G-Force levels. The Limited Edition PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is a high Rye Whiskey selected by the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake drivers, with barrels trialed in their wind tunnel to ensure a thrilling taste in every sip.

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

by Spectrum Medical Care Center

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
