Night In White: Gotham to be held May 21

International pop/club superstar Amber will headline the entertinament at this year's annual Night In White event, which will be at The Factory in Franklin and carry a "Gotham" theme.

Nashville CARES’ Night in White, has been called one of Nashville’s premier dance parties. GOTHAM is a brand new concept for Night In White (NIW), Nashville CARES’ annual dance benefit and thank you party for the GLBT community and friends.

The party will feature international pop/club superstar AMBER, guest DJs COOLOUT and STRANGELY FAMILIAR MUSIC CLUB, and an amazing line up of performance art entertainers including RTHM: REAL TIME HAND MOTION and choreography by CHRIS WHITMIRE—all set in Liberty Hall, a newly refurbished turn of the century industrial plant. GOTHAM is presented by BLAVOD EXTREME SPIRITS.

In addition to great music, food and entertainment, GOTHAM will feature a special collaborative silent auction with upstart artist co-op PLOWHAUS. Sales of art donated by some of Nashville’s best artists will benefit both Nashville CARES and Plowhaus; other auction items (including travel, home and garden, spa and beauty items) will benefit Nashville CARES.

Night in White began as a modest gathering in the backyard of long-time Nashville CARES supporter Tommy Lawson. The event was (and is) a “thank you” to the gay and lesbian community (and friends) for their support of, and contributions to, Nashville CARES events and programs.

“This event has evolved into quite a celebration – it has definitely outgrown my backyard,” said Lawson, Night In White’s honorary chairperson emeritus. “I am thankful, though, that it has remained true to its original spirit. Night in White is a social event that is accessible to the entire community. It is affordable and fun and still manages to raise money for a very important cause.”

There will not be another party like this one all year! Tickets are limited; last year’s Zootopia event was a sellout and folks were turned away at the door—so get your tickets now! Thank you for supporting HIV prevention education and care for those living with HIV and AIDS at Nashville CARES with your ticket purchase.

General admission for NIW: Gotham  is $25 ($35 at the door) with host/VIP packages ranging from $75 ($85 at the door). VIP packages include an invitation to a VIP party on May 1, access to the VIP lounge at the event, and much more. For more information or to purchase tickets contact Jennifer Fernandez at 259-4866, ext. 239 or visit www.gothamparty.org.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
