Gay chamber unveils new look

Nashville’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLBTCC) has a new look that they hope will brand the organization with a “we mean business message” as the group builds a stronger GLBT business community.

The logo, designed by Nashville advertising and public relations firm Gish, Sherwood & Friends, Inc., was recommended by the NGLBTCC marketing committee to the full board of directors. The board approved the logo in late April.

Board member Michael Fluck, who chairs the chamber’s marketing committee, said the group was very pleased over the new logo.

“It’s very contemporary and fresh,” Fluck said. “The logo incorporartes a variety of colors to represent the diversity of our members. It was a difficult choice because we had some great options presented to us by Gish, Sherwood & Friends. But the board worked together to get the logo that best represents the chamber and its mission.”

John Wade, president of the NGLBTCC, said the chamber’s marketing committee had requested a new logo after the board revised the organization’s mission statement.

“To me the new logo depicts a professional organization,” Wade said. “It’s a very strong and dignified image. It says we mean business.”

The new logo replaces one that the NGLBTCC had used for just over a year. That logo, designed by SBResults of Hermitage, was meant to be a “bridge” identity as the group moved from its old moniker of the Nashville Association of Professional Persons (NAPP) to its current chamber identity.

“Our previous logo was wonderful and served a great need as we bridged between NAPP and our chamber identity,” Wade said. “SBResults has done a fantastic job of helping us develop our Web page and marketing identity.”

Wade added that the new logo was part of a move to rebrand the chamber with its new image. He said next steps would include a revamp of the Web site. He said the chamber was “gaining traction with the new identity” and added that the rebranding was necessary to “make this organization all that it can be for the community.”

“Future marketing plans include the revamping of the chamber’s Web site,” he added. “The marketing committee, along with SBResults, will work on pulling all that together over the next few months.”

The Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce exists to advance common business interests, economic growth and equality in the workplace and society for its GLBT members, businesses and allies by providing educational, networking and community-building opportunities.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
